Litespeed Education has successfully developed many E-Learning solutions powered by highly innovative and unique Artificial Intelligence, such as our Diagnostic Tutorial Assessment System (DTAS) and Intelligent Content Assessment Marking (ICAM) engines. DTAS diagnoses student weaknesses while ICAM grades open-text answers. Both engines were awarded the “Innovator Award” by The Enterprise Challenge (TEC), a unit of the Singapore Prime Minister’s Office.

Intelligent Content Assessment Marking (ICAM)

Grading of students' open-ended answers are made possible through the Intelligent Content Assessment Marking (ICAM) engine. ICAM is based on artificial intelligence and is able to automatically grade a student's short text answer, that would otherwise be manually marked by a teacher. ICAM assists teachers by learning their marking scheme standard and applying it to give students the benefit of immediate response..

Accuracy improves over time

The ICAM engine received an Innovation Award from The Enterprise Challenge, a unit of the Singapore Prime Minister's Office responsible for testing innovative ideas that have the potential to improve the delivery of public services. In the trial across a sample size of 26,000 students over one year, it was shown that the accuracy of marking was up to 97%, and provides a sufficiently high enough correlation to encourage the use of ICAM for formative assessment.
